The Chattanooga women’s basketball team will travel to Tennessee Tech Saturday for its first road contest of the season. The game is set to tip off at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
This will be the 24th meeting between Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech dating back to 1975 when the two teams met twice. TTU leads the series 17-5 and are 10-0 in Cookeville. UTC won the meeting last season at the Roundhouse by a 76-65 margin with three in double figures. This will be the third meeting between the two programs since 1997.
The teams were paired up in 2005 in a tournament in Las Vegas.
The Mocs had three in double figures and head coach Katie Burrows was able to see all of her team on the court. Freshman Destiny McClendon led all scorers in the game with 14 points on 3-of-4 from beyond the line. Dena Jarrells dropped in four from distance for 12 points and Abbey Cornelius had 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Karsen Murphy, Leah Jones and Addie Grace Porter each pulled down five rebounds. UTC had 14 assists and 10 turnovers with seven blocked shots.
The Mocs were selected to finish fifth by the Southern Conference Coaches in the preseason poll. The Southern Conference Sports Media Association membership picked Chattanooga to finish third.
