Gray And Maher Named USA Lacrosse Preseason All-America – UNC Athletics
CHAPEL HILL – Graduate student Chris Gray and senior Connor Maher are listed as preseason first-team All-America this week by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Gray and Maher were among five Atlantic Coast Conference players selected for the first team.
Gray, an attackman from Wading River, N.Y., led UNC and the ACC in goals with 49. His 42 assists led the Tar Heels and were second-most in the ACC. For his stellar play on and off the field, he was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year, ACC Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and First Team All-America. He was also selected as a 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List Finalist.
Maher, a midfielder from Timonium, Md., had one goal, two assists, and was second on the team in ground balls with 65, and caused 10 turnovers in 2021. He saw action in all 16 games and was named a Second Team All-America, All-ACC Team, and the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
