The Giants have a chance to make a statement against the Chiefs: 10 thoughts ahead of their Monday night affair

Toney came out early for a brief warmup. Now he and Shepard are going through the standard pregame warmup routine with Daniel Jones. Unlike past weeks, the Giants brain trust isn’t watching their every move intently. Both look good to go https://t.co/ygpxGd2MnL

Giants get offensive reinforcements The Giants should get an offensive boost today. Also, an early indicator of one of New York’s inactives tonight.

The Athletic NFL Staff

One thing that will be a boost to the offense: Getting some playmakers back. Receivers Kadarius Toney and Sterling Shepard, both listed as questionable, are expected to play, per source. Team will make sure they’re good in warmups, but they’re not considered game-time decisions https://t.co/dPqCezLA2M

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) November 1, 2021 A bunch of Giants practice squad players made the trip and they’re going through a pregame workout. DT Danny Shelton and LB Elerson Smith (IR) are also in that group. Strong indication that Shelton will be a healthy scratch.

Who covers Tyreek Hill? The Giants will have their hands full with Tyreek Hill tonight. How do they handle it?

The Athletic NFL Staff

Yeah, I wouldn’t think Bradberry is the best match-up for Hill. They may just have the corners stick to a side since they’ll likely be in a lot of Cover-2 https://t.co/siatVkzwHf

NFL trade deadline grades: Rams acquire Von Miller from Broncos for a pair of picks

In a league where it feels like half the teams keep trying to accumulate assets that never lead to anything, I respect one that says, “Screw it. Let’s try to go win the Super Bowl.”

Checking in on the NFL playoff race

The Chiefs are in a very muddled bunch of teams in the AFC playoff hunt as Week 8 comes to a close. And believe it or not, a Giants win puts New York just a game out of the seventh seed in the NFC playoff picture.

Giants roster moves The Giants tinker with the roster ahead of tonight’s game, including signing DB Steven Parker from the practice squad in light of injuries in the secondary and on special teams.

The Athletic NFL Staff

Parker signing the only unexpected move. Giants are down secondary depth and special teams due to injuries. Parker has been on the practice squad most of the season. Started four games for Patrick Graham in Miami in 2019 https://t.co/lYuUcGkXih

How The Athletic’s writers see Giants-Chiefs playing out

The Chiefs must be the best 3-4 team in NFL history, at least based on oddsmakers’ and pickers’ views of them. Oddsmakers have stuck to a double-digit point spread for this game, and writers from The Athletic went 8-for-8 in picking the Chiefs.

The Athletic’s model doesn’t like the Chiefs as much as Vegas does (its spread is 8.9 points to Vegas’ 10), but it still gives them a 74-percent chance of winning.
