COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Pollinator Committee (CPC) announced that after leading a successful community campaign, Columbus will become the first city in Indiana to achieve official Bee City USA status. Columbus and the CPC join 145 cities across 44 states.
The affiliation means that Columbus will create and enhance pollinator habitats on public and private land by increasing the abundance of native plants. The city will also incorporate pollinator-friendly practices, reduce pesticide use, and host pollinator awareness events.
“The Columbus Pollinator Committee thanks Columbus for adopting the Bee City USA resolution,” says Eric Riddle, Chair of the CPC. “We look forward to working with city officials and private partners to advance our vision in a way that benefits us all.”
