OMAHA, Neb. – Alabama’s Kensey McMahon finished eighth in the very first 1,500-meter freestyle final at a United States Swimming Olympic Team Trials, being held in Omaha, Neb., this week.

The women’s 1,500-meter freestyle was added to the Olympic schedule for the first time heading into Tokyo, making the prelims and the finals of the race a first at the U.S. Olympic Trials this week. McMahon advanced to the final on Tuesday with a time of 16:16.09, before coming back a little more 24 hours later for the final, posting a 16:20.03.
