Gators fighting backDameon Pierce punched it in on fourth-and-1 from two yards out to cap off a 10-play, 75-yard drive coming out of the locker room to cut the lead to 21-16. Coach Dan Mullen made an adjustment at halftime to cover for quarterback Emory Jones’ passing woes, and went almost exclusively with option plays to lead the march down the field. Alabama’s offense sputtered in the second quarter and the crowd in The Swamp has come alive. We gotta ball game folks.

Florida’s defense finding its grooveAlabama scored touchdowns on its first three drives of the game, which had this one looking sideways early. The Gator defense has come alive since then. They have forced three straight three-and-outs, which included a Brenton Cox sack of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young on the most recent drive. It is the first real adversity that Alabama’s offense has faced this season, and it is giving the Gators offense a chance if they can get something going.

Florida finally finds the end zoneMalik Davis punched it in from 26 yards out to cap off a 79-yard drive to cut Alabama’s lead to 21-9, and Chris Howard missed the extra point. With that said, it’s the first real sign of life for a Gators offense that has been struggling all afternoon.

Quarterback Emory Jones is 7-of-14 for 76 yards and one interception, and is missing some very easy passes despite having all of the time in the world to throw. The boo birds even came out in The Swamp prior to Davis’ scamper into the end zone. Our Jamie Erdhal reported earlier that backup quarterback Anthony Richardson is on the headset, but isn’t showing any sign of an impending entrance to the game.

Florida turns it over on downsThe disaster keeps getting worse for the Gators. Emory Jones had his pass on fourth-and-3 blocked, which gave Alabama the ball on its own 37-yard line. It’s just the latest hiccup in what has been an awful game for Jones. He’s 6-of-11 with an interception, and hasn’t been able to find much room on the ground either. Coach Dan Mullen is obviously reluctant to go to backup Anthony Richardson, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Jones picked off Jalyn Armour-Davis is back in action after missing some time earlier this season and immediately picks off Emory Jones at Florida 42-yard line Jones got hit as he threw and the pass sailed big time. Coach Dan Mullen said that quarterback Anthony Richardson is medically cleared after pulling his hamstring last week, but he wouldn’t be used unless there’s an emergency.

There’s an emergency.

Coverage bust extends Bama’s leadCrimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young found a wide open Jahleel Billingsley on a wheel route for a 26-yard touchdown to push the lead to 14-3. Florida had two defensive backs follow the slot receiver on the slant, which left Billingsley running free on the left sideline. It caps off another 75-yard drive for coach Nick Saban’s crew, which looks like it’s going to be tough to stop this afternoon. Florida fans can’t be happy about the turn of events considering the questionable pass interference call on Kaiir Elam earlier in the drive kept the drive alive. This is a huge drive for Florida. If they can’t punch it into the end zone, this thing might turn sideways in a hurry.
