Funeral services were held Sunday morning at Venice Church of the Nazarene in Venice for Sarasota County Patrol Deputy Joshua Welge who died after a months long battle with COVID-19. 3. It’s The Most Wonderful Time: Christmas is starting early this year with Christmas Town coming Friday, November 12th to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. There will be a new fireworks show called “Holiday in the Sky” on Saturday nights and select evenings. Holiday food and drinks will be sold for an extra charge in the theme park with options such as maple bourbon pecan pie, smoked brisket “totchos,” hot cocoa, “Mistletoe Margaritas,” and more. 4. Chicago-style hot dog giant, Portillo’s, is set to open a location in the Tyrone area of St. Petersburg in 2022, according to documents filed with the city. Portillo’s currently has locations in Brandon and Tampa and is expanding rapidly. (St. Pete Rising)

5. Hillsborough and Pinellas County detectives discovered more than $1 million laundered by a couple and their business associates from their alleged sex worker business in Lutz. James Robert Smith and his wife, Nan Chen Smith, are accused of running an illegal prostitution ring at Simply Massage. 12 massage parlors were linked to the couple in recent years. (Patch Tampa)
